Roma "The Last Supper" (Gus)

Our last day in Rome was relatively relaxing. We slept in! Well, 8:30 for us is sleeping in :-). Then we took a stroll in Central Park. Not actually Central Park but it just like Central Park it's called Borghese Gardens. It had statues, museums, a dog park and views of the entire city. It was amazing that one family back in the day created all this in the middle of Rome.

The Last Supper! My buddy Adrian and his WIFEY Sam got to Rome for their honeymoon the night before we took off to Sorrento. We made a reservation for Nino's by the Spanish Steps because Adrian and I told our trusted Attorney and Contract Guru Mitch that we would eat there. The food was good and the company even better. Kris finally had people she could drink with and we had a meal that will never be forgotten.

Before you leave Italia you are suppose to throw a coin in the Trevi fountain for a wish and to return to Rome. I wished for a free trip ;-)

What are the chances that the Baxter girls own shops in Italy? :)

In Sorrento!

We've made it to Sorrento and we've still got to catch up with other stuff.

But let me tell you that I made my FIRST purchase today! Damn, I broke! And i have NO friggin idea how I will fit my beautiful grandma sweeter into my luggage! Harmont & Blaine be damned. Never heard of It, but their emblem of a dog got me in the store! Soooooo many cute things, but I fell for the grey sweater. Love it!

Something About the Vatican (kris)

Ok so I realize the catholic religion is tarnished and the Vatican is littered with controversy, but the art, the awe, the grandness of it all is amazing and worth witnessing.

First stop, the courtyard where you not only see this sphere of art, but with a guide walk to boards surrounding the courtyard that previews what you will see in the Sistine chapel. Reviewed in courtyard because the Vatican requests all visitors to be quiet in Sistine chapel.

What's fascinating about this above photo, is that Michelangelo, originally a sculptor, used this torso as his inspiration to create the paintings on the Sistine channel. He was taken by surprise when the pope asked him to paint rather than sculpt but of course he obliged.

Gus took pictures which he wasn't supposed to. The ceiling is rather brilliant...

Ok Gus already showed the pic above but I want to point out that Michelangelo created this when he was JUST TWENTY FOUR years old!!! It's a symbolic piece...

After Sistine chapel you get guided into st. Peters basilica. Look at that light! Yes it ups the spiritual feeling. The size of the church is massive.

Brazilian Food (kris)

Brazilian food in Italy? Well yes, kind of...

Cracking up. Fiending for frijoles and we come across a Brazilian restaurant. In Italy! Yes, Italy. BUT the crazy thing was this was the ONLY dish offered for Brazilian! AND there was NO meat!!! What the? Yah I know! Thank god I love yucca flour and black beans.

Rome day 3 (Gus)

It was a chilly day in Tivoli but we had a great time checking out Hadrian's Palatial playgrounds and the Villa D'este gardens. Our tour consisted of a couple from Israel and a couple from Colorado.

Hadrian was this bad ass emperor who basically created this little city for his wifeys, slaves and all the kids and his boy toys (soldiers). He was hardly even there because he was off conquering and kicking ass. The sad part is that it was bombed 22 times in WW2! It looks great for being 2000 years old.

The Church had this Cardinal who was the Godson of the Pope. The Pope gave him this Villa to chill at. The gardens are amazing! The Villa was built on the side of a mountain and has a water filtration system that powers these beautiful fountains with just gravity. More stairs but totally worth it!

We asked the tour guide what's the best Pizza near our hotel and he led us to this place, la botte, with whole pigs in the window. However, it delivered.
