We stayed at the Hilton molino stucky across from the central part of Venice. It's a little bit of a ghost town but upon arriving from the waterbus we walked by a tiny but very busy restaurant full of the fisherman, water taxi and water bus drivers which was a good indication for me to make sure we ate there. Boy was I right. We went there twice.
After checking in, before heading to central Venice we made sure to get some snacks...Gus had a shrimp sandwich - a concoction of whit bread, crusts cut off stuffed with frutti di mare. And I got a simple roll with salami. Then we shared fried olives on a stick. It was all good but it was the fried olives that made us vow that we'd return.
When we ended up leaving Venice to head to Florence we dived into what you see below.
Gus took a chance on the weird looking squid thing and enjoyed it. Beside the squid were fried meatball patties.
And in the second picture was my favorite! The fried mozzarella with prosciutto. These were beyond the mozzarella sticks you get as an app at a chain restaurant, it was this unique tempura like doughy crunchy love! I should have gotten more for our train trip. And of course we had gotten more fried olives. Comfort food on the go!
